Local Databases, System Tray, AI Setup in One Sentence
Basevolt can now manage local SQLite files directly, sidebars collapse into an icon rail, the desktop app lives in your system tray, connecting an AI agent takes one copied sentence, and webhooks are open to everyone.
Local databases — no server setup required 🗂️
This is the biggest change in the release. You can now create local databases: your data stays on your own machine, one file per base. When you create one you pick where it lives, and when you delete one you choose whether the data file goes with it — no more accidentally losing a file.
Connecting external databases was reworked too. Every data source is now a card on the create page with a clear description, so you just pick the one you need.
Collapse the sidebar, get your screen back 🖥️
The sidebars in workspaces, bases and the admin console can all collapse into a narrow icon rail. Hover an icon to see its name — when you want to focus on the data, a rail is all you need.
System tray — closing the window doesn't disconnect you 🧲
Closing the desktop window is no longer an all-or-nothing "quit". You can minimize to the system tray and let Basevolt keep running in the background (local database service, webhooks and the local endpoint your AI uses all stay available), have it ask you every time, or simply quit. You can change this any time in My Settings.
Connect an AI agent with one copied sentence 🤖
Connecting Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and other AI assistants used to mean editing config by hand. The MCP settings now have a prompt view: copy it once, paste it to your AI, and it wires up the connection for you. The page also lists what your AI can do once connected — create tables and fields, build dashboards, write data, configure webhooks.
Speaking of which, AI agents can now create tables and fields outright and build a complete database from an empty folder. Anything that changes or deletes data asks you first.
Webhooks for everyone, and actions you can click 🔔
Webhooks no longer require Pro. They also learned a few new tricks: an open URL action from the record menu, with field values interpolated into the URL, and a table-level action you can pin above the table view — no record selection needed, one click runs it.
Dashboards, split exactly how you need 📊
Chart widgets can now filter each data series separately, so you can compare different slices in a single chart instead of splitting it into several.
Clearer account and licensing 🔐
The account page now separates membership from device activation: paying members are no longer shown as free just because this computer hasn't been activated yet, and the page tells you exactly how to activate. License checks happen locally now, so Pro features keep working offline. Your display name falls back to the email prefix, so a signed-in user never reads as "not logged in".
We're continuing to polish the AI and connection setup in local bases — we'd love to hear how it feels.
